Mariachi Cristal is based in Waterford, Michigan, and performs all over Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario.
Formed in 1998 as "Trio Cristal," by bandleader Rich Vidrio, Mariachi Cristal began performing in Mexican restaurants around metro Detroit. They perform authentic mariachi music at weddings, corporate events, festivals, and more. Some of their chestnuts are La Bamba, Libro Abierto, El Rey, Una Pagina Mas, La Raspa (Mexican Hat Dance), and Guantanamera. Their music is influenced by music of Vincente Fernandez, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, and Jorge Negrete.
Mariachi Cristal's band members:: EVARISTO URIBE - LEAD VOCALS/GUITAR - Born and raised in San Martin, Jalisco, Mexico, Evaristo is the crown voice. Evaristo has played in trios, mariachi bands, and banda bands over the last twenty years. Being that Jalisco is the home of the mariachi, Evaristo brings with him the authentic experience to Michigan and the rest of the Midwest.
RAMIRO OJEDA - LEAD GUITAR/VOCALS - Raised in Guanajuato, Mexico Ramiro grew up playing rancheros, cumbias, and romantic Mexican music. He earned a degree from the University of Mexico City where he played estudiantina music.
RICH VIDRIO - VIHUELA/BASS/VOCALS - Born in Pontiac, Michigan of family from Guanajuato, Rich studied many styles of Mexican music in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. As the nephew of Ramiro, Rich as become the dedicated protege of of 'Tio Ramiro.'
AL SERRIN - TRUMPET/VOCALS - From Saginaw, Michigan, Al has played horns with Latin performers over the last thirty years such as Diego Melindez, Orquesta Que Cat, and Mickey Figueroa, as well as for the Toledo Jazz Orchesta.
